Post-presentation celebratory dinner!
We decided to drop by Clementi central after school to fill our tummies with food made in Heaven after a long and tiring day and, of course, after a successful presentation at school.
We have always been having porridge at the very same coffee shop, and the Boyfriend had been dying to try this stall since we found it tucked away in a little corner of Clementi. Prices were pretty reasonable for the quality offered at a coffee shop, and the sides we could choose from weren’t just your normal mashed potato, wedges or chips.
I’m always with fish, so I ordered grilled fish with lemon butter sauce and sides of garden salad and pasta salad (S$5.50). The fish was grilled nicely, with slightly crispy edges and yet soft and moist under the tangy lemon butter sauce. And I loved the pasta salad! Plus the portion’s just lovely for a lady, even if she’s a small eater.
I call this food for the men. The Boyfriend eats only medium rare steak, and he held the theory that medium rare steaks are the most testing on a chef’s culinary skills. While I didn't appreciate the bloodiness of uncooked meat (which explains why I don’t eat them), I've got to say that I was impressed by the presentation style (on a hotplate), as well as the sides. The fries were not soggy and were unsalted, so they went nicely with the heaviness of the steak’s gravy. Plus they had BBQ sauce added to the baked beans, so they didn't have the usual metallic taste the usual canned beans had. And guess what? He paid just S$9.90 for it. And he loved it.
