Hot Tomato Cafe & Grill @ 313 Somerset

Saturday evenings in Orchard Road only meant two things:

1) You’re hungry from shopping and you need comfort food to ease the pain in your stilettos or

2) You’re too occupied with shopping to even think about food.
In my case, it was the former.
I must say, Hot Tomato doesn’t say too much about the food it serves from its signboard.
You mean you only serve tomatoes here?
That’s a retarded passing thought.
Anyway, Boyfriend and I popped into the Hot Tomato at 313 Somerset at random last Saturday, and something on the menu caught my eye.

Boyfriend picked the Norwegian Salmon with Mango Salsa (S$11.9), which came with aglio olio. To be truthful, the mango salsa was a little bland.

Mine was Grilled Salmon Fillet with Tartar Sauce (S$11.9), which was pretty good. The salmon steak was skimpy, but it was grilled to my standard of perfection, with an awesomely crispy skin to boot. The side salad was… you can skip it if you’re satiated after the pasta and salmon.

I confess; I goaded Boyfriend to order this (S$6.9), since he had a craving for escargot some time ago. He didn’t seem to like it, and preferred his escargot with the shell on.
It was a noisy Saturday evening in the basement of 313 Somerset, so don’t expect your dining experience to be a romantic and serene one if you plan to visit this restaurant during the weekend. The staff was polite and efficient. Oh, just don’t expect free water here.
Overall:
Ambience: 3/5
Food: 3/5
Price: $$
Service: Mediocre/Satisfactory/Good/Excellent
